LexisNexis does publish transactional list prices — a Large Legal Price Schedule with itemised per-document charges, effective 5 January 2026. What it does not publish is a self-serve subscription rate card: there is no page showing what a seat costs per month. So the subscription figures below are third-party reporting, each with a source and a date, while the per-transaction charges can be read from Lexis directly.

Thomson Reuters publishes self-serve Westlaw prices for new-customer firms up to ten attorneys, on its two AI tiers. LexisNexis did not follow. Every row above is somebody else reporting what a firm was quoted. Treat them as a range to negotiate against, not a price list. Your own number will depend on headcount, jurisdiction scope, content packages, and contract length, and it will arrive after you disclose all four.
Why there is no rate card
The reason a vendor withholds a number is structural rather than sinister. A posted price lets a buyer compare and walk away. A quote establishes the buyer's firm size and budget before the seller names a figure. Both parties know this, which is why the demo call opens with questions about headcount.

The practical consequence for a small firm is that comparison shopping requires sitting through multiple sales cycles to learn four numbers. That cost is real, it is paid in partner hours, and it never appears on an invoice.
The costs outside the subscription
Out of plan search and document charges
Content outside your selected plan is billed per transaction. Lexis’ own schedule lists a $99 system access charge with per-document rates from $2. The widely quoted sixty dollars per Lexis search comes from the Franklin County Law Library (updated 22 July 2026), where it is cost-recovery guidance on what a firm may bill a client rather than what Lexis bills the firm. These are the charges that produce the invoice nobody can explain at the partner meeting.
Jurisdiction scope
The solo entry rate buys limited jurisdiction coverage. The first matter that crosses a state line either falls out of plan or forces an upgrade mid-term. Price the coverage you will actually need rather than the coverage you need today.
Seats that never log in
Per seat licensing bills the seat, not the usage. Run the login report before the renewal count is set. This is the single most common source of recoverable spend at any firm on any platform.
Research time itself
The ABA 2020 Profile of the Profession found the average lawyer spends roughly seventeen percent of the workday on legal research. Whatever the license costs, the hours cost more, and the hours are the line nobody itemizes.

Multi-year discounts get baked into headline figures. Get the one year, two year, and three year rates in writing so the discount is visible rather than hidden inside a number you are comparing against something else.
Twelve months of out of plan charges
Pull the actual per search and per document charges from the last four quarters. If they are significant, the correct fix may be a coverage change rather than a platform change.
Your bar association benefit
More than 60 bar associations provide a free Fastcase or vLex tier with membership. Confirm what your package includes before paying for overlapping coverage. Free tiers generally exclude the advanced AI features.
Who holds your prompts
Prompts and outputs are electronically stored information. Ask which model providers sit in the data path and under what retention schedule the vendor keeps the record. Why this matters.
